Plus d'information
Picasso's ceramics are often inspired by the animal world. This pitcher, created in 1953, shows this perfectly: a marriage of forml and function, Picasso uses the pitcher's unusual shape in order to create the shape of the bird. Touched of paint, done in coloured engobes, create the bird's dappled feathers. Its biomorphic appearence is probably inspired by Pre-Columbian cer amics, which Picasso often regarded at the Louvre.
