This oil painting is an early work, with a naturalistic style still marked by the influence of Cézanne, Renoir and Post-Impressionism. Nevertheless, it foreshadows some of the fantasies that would haunt Delvaux, such as the young woman, naked, solitary and frozen, in her empty interior.
