On the 9th of january 1969, Picasso created two pitchers in the anthropomorphic style that had come to characterise his ceramic creation: the "Visage aux yeux rieurs" and the "Visage au nez noir". Highly colourful, the two works constitute a couple, with the Visage aux yeux rieurs being the female half, and the bearded Visage au nez noir the male one.
