Born in 1956, Dominique Jeantet studied at the Légion d’honneur and Sciences Po in Paris. Active in left-wing circles during the turbulent political climate of the 1970s, Dominique Fury spent three years between Paris, the Cévennes and New York, where she rubbed shoulders with the underground scene alongside Félix Guattari, William Burroughs, Thunder, Andy Warhol’s Factory and the Bazooka group.
Bazooka centred on screen printing and fabric, experimenting with images and collages for the clothing created by the group: an art form designed to circulate freely. All these experiences of the 1970s enabled Fury to conceive of art differently—an art form intended to challenge and transform society.
