The works of Li Chevalier are intended as a visual testament to a feminine creative vision that, at the crossroads of diverse cultures and disciplines, embarks on an adventure in which the ancient medium of Chinese ink is transcended by the artist’s brush, propelling it into an innovative union with the very essence of composition and materiality so characteristic of the European pictorial tradition: encounter, gestation, fusion—a deeply personal journey to craft a wholly original vision that deserves its own chapter in the history of “Ink in Motion” in the 21st century, as written by artists of the Chinese diaspora, intoxicated by freedom and encounters.
