From Tradition to Icons of Modernity
Lovers of classic design need not worry: Korea shares the spotlight with the historic disciplines that have made the fair’s reputation. The exhibition, featuring some twenty brands and enhanced this year by a “Rive Gauche” circuit in partnership with Carré Rive Gauche, promises some truly memorable moments at the fair.
The Jacques Barrère Gallery will be the highlight of the event with an impressive wooden bodhisattva from the Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392). At Mingei, the art of Japanese bamboo basketry will be celebrated across eight centuries of creation, while the Sinapango Gallery will bring together a collection of Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) lacquerware, including a rare erotic incense box. Finally, the most sought-after modern art will take center stage at the Jean-François Cazeau Gallery, which will bring together masters from Europe and Asia, from Zao Wou-Ki to Foujita, not to mention the unmissable Yayoi Kusama.
