Pablo Picasso Spanish, 1881-1973

Overview

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, and ceramicist who became a naturalized French citizen in 1901. He settled in Paris in the early 20th century and quickly became a major figure in modern art.

His body of work spans numerous periods, including the Blue and Rose periods, followed by Cubism—a style he developed notably alongside Georges Braque. Throughout his career, Picasso experimented with various media and constantly reinvented his artistic language, moving between painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and ceramics.

After settling in the south of France following World War II, he continued his creative work until his death in 1973.
